We're a mixed group of friends — some of us grew up on these streets, some of us arrived from other corners of the world and never left. Between us we range from late 20s to late 40s. Some have kids in tow, some are flying solo. What we share is a deep, daily relationship with this city and an almost obsessive dislike of seeing it done badly.
Seville gets millions of visitors a year. Too many of them spend three days in a loop between the Cathedral, the Alcázar queue, and a restaurant with a laminated photo menu. They leave having seen Seville without really experiencing it. That bothers us.
So we started doing what we'd always done for friends visiting from abroad — putting together real, opinionated plans. Where to eat before the tourists arrive. Which flamenco shows are genuine and which are staged for busloads. The hidden courtyard that takes your breath away and has no sign outside. The bar where the jamón is carved by someone who has been doing it for forty years.
